Norms & Standards Expert – Belgium – 6 Months

Description :
As part of its expansion, the group is seeking a Norms & Certification Expert to join the Design Office and support its hydrogen-related product lines. 

This role is critical to ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry standards in product design and project execution.

Leadership & Coordination
  • Organise regulatory and standards monitoring activities.
  • Ensure upskilling and technical awareness within internal teams.
  • Build and manage strong partnerships with third parties, certification bodies, and clients.
  • Promote continuous improvement and standardisation across projects.
Normative & Technical Compliance
  • Define and implement compliance strategies across product lifecycle.
  • Guide internal teams in the application of relevant norms and standards (ASME, EN, PED, CE, IEC, ATEX, etc.).
  • Review and validate technical documentation, procedures, and compliance matrices.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), particularly for pressure equipment and safety systems.
  • Contribute to working groups to represent John Cockerill’s interests at national and international levels.
Supplier & Project Interface
  • Participate in proposal reviews and client clarifications.
  • Review supplier offers and collaborate with HSE and Quality departments.
  • Lead qualification and evaluation of engineering subcontractors and equipment manufacturers.
  • Participate in product lifecycle reviews and New Product Introduction (NPI) gates.
Profile :
Education: Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil or Industrial).

Experience:
  • Minimum 10–15 years in complex regulatory and normative environments.
  • Strong experience in Oil & Gas or Chemical industry projects.
  • Experience in the hydrogen sector and with hazardous area compliance is a strong asset.
Technical Expertise:
  • In-depth knowledge of pressure vessels, low/high voltage systems, control & instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with both European and US regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in product development, systems engineering and supplier auditing.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong organisational and coordination abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international and multicultural environment.
  • Able to manage several priorities under strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel for short international assignments if needed.
