Project Engineer Marine & Water Structures – Belgium – 12 Months

As part of the expansion of marine and port infrastructure activities, we are recruiting a Project Engineer specialised in water and marine structures. You will play a central role in the design and coordination of large infrastructure projects such as ports, quay walls, locks, breakwaters and flood protection systems. Responsibilities

Lead the design and execution of complex marine infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

Prepare structural designs (preliminary, basic, tender, detailed) for port and coastal facilities: quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, bridge foundations, locks, and dikes.

Perform technical calculations and analyses for soil-structure interaction and installation methods.

Coordinate with external partners (joint venture members, subcontractors, contractors) and represent the design office during construction phases.

Liaise with internal multidisciplinary teams (water, mobility, civil, equipment).

Ensure project follow-up in terms of quality, budget, deadlines and customer satisfaction.

Supervise and coach junior engineers and CAD technicians; validate their work.

Participate in the development and integration of design software tools (SCIA Engineer, D-Sheet Piling, Ansys, Plaxis, etc.).

Contribute to the permitting process and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Profile :
Education:
-
Master of Science in Structural Engineering with a major in:
-
Dredging & Offshore Engineering,
-
Construction Design,
-
Marine Engineering.
-
Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years in technical design of marine or hydraulic infrastructure.

Hands-on experience with:
-
Design codes and standards (ISO, EC, NEN, EAU, SB250/SB260),
-
Reinforcement of complex 3D concrete structures,
-
Soil-structure interaction for port infrastructure (sheet piles, anchors, combi walls, etc.).

Skills:
-
Quality-driven, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Team player with the ability to work across multiple disciplines.
Languages:
-
Fluent Dutch and English (written and spoken).
Additional Assets:
-
Familiarity with Flemish permitting processes (omgevingsvergunning).

Knowledge of public contract management.
-
Holder of a B-category driving licence and international driving licence.
-
Willingness to undertake short or mid-term international assignments.
