Emerson DCS Commissioning Expert – Spain – 3 Months

Description :
We are currently seeking an experienced Emerson DCS Commissioning Expert to support the commissioning and start-up of a new Air Separation Unit in Spain.

The plant will be operated by a major international industrial gas company, with ASU technology engineered by teams in France and Poland.

Responsibilities
  • Support the commissioning team throughout plant start-up.
  • Analyse, troubleshoot and modify control logic within the Emerson DCS.
  • Perform loop checks and ensure that all control loops are fully tested and verified.
  • Test and validate Emergency Shutdown logic before hot commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot DCS hardware, software, communications and field interfaces.
  • Optimise HMI graphics, alarm priorities and operator displays.
  • Read and interpret logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, instrumentation hook-ups and P&IDs.
  • Liaise with instrumentation, electrical, process and commissioning teams.
  • Maintain and monitor the software punch list.
  • Produce and update red-line P&IDs, logic diagrams and approved HMI screens.
  • Prepare and sign off loop-check sheets and Site Acceptance Test reports.
  • Support the preparation of operating procedures and commissioning documentation.
  • Deliver a stable DCS environment ready for handover to the operations team.
  • Work autonomously while maintaining effective communication with the wider project team.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety, quality and commissioning procedures.
Profile :
  • At least three years of hands-on experience with Emerson DCS systems.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Emerson DCS configuration, troubleshooting and logic modification.
  • Strong commissioning or start-up experience in industrial process plants.
  • Previous experience with an Air Separation Unit or cryogenic process plant would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to perform loop checks, logic testing, SAT activities and DCS troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of E&I documentation, including:
    • logic diagrams;
    • wiring diagrams;
    • loop diagrams;
    • instrumentation hook-ups;
    • P&IDs.
  • Ability to work independently in a demanding site environment.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace and standard digital reporting tools.
  • Professional working English is required for the international project environment.
  • Spanish language skills would be an advantage.
Certifications and Safety Requirements

Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain before mobilisation, the safety and electrical authorisations required by the project, which may include:
  • site safety induction;
  • working-at-height training;
  • confined-space training;
  • electrical authorisations;
  • chemical risk training
